It’s a great time to be a gamer people! Sony came out of the gate at full speed and never slowed down. I was a bit surprised about this because normally, one of the big two rambles on about statistics. However, it was all games this year!
Sony started their conference off by showing gameplay of The Last Guardian! We’ve only been waiting on the sequel for like 10 years. I was excited to see that it was still in development for the most part.
I really enjoyed how Sony laid out their press conference this year. It had 1st party and 3rd party exclusives, a few indies, and Project Morpheus. The kicker this year was that Sony pretty much secured first play access on all of the 3rd party titles, which has never ever been done before. Normally Microsoft always gets this.
I could go on and on about the amount of content that they showed this year, but I just want to classify their two knockout games for each party. Believe it or not, the game that stole the spotlight for their 1st party studio was a game called Horizon Zero Dawn. That game looked freaking incredible! Imagine humans being forced back to the stone age and machines resembling dinosaurs taking over. It looks like a massive open world game, and I’m really excited about this one.
There were so many great 3rd party games that were revealed, but if I had to pick a show-stopper, it would have to be the Final Fantasy VII remake… “Drops the mic”.
